Maybe more people are starting to read these little blips of words lately? I don’t know, but maybe you’d like to know a bit more about us. So. Here goes nothing.
1. Tony and I met and started dating in our junior year of high school. Actually, we met in seventh grade when we were in the same health class. Our teacher would leave the window open (it was low to the ground) all day and Tony would climb in/out of the window rather than use the door. I thought he was a goober, but look…I still remember it so clearly that move made an impact.
2. I went to three different universities in 5 years (Clayton State, Georgia State and Mercer) before graduating from Mercer University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. My brain does not operate above a 2nd grade level because that’s what I taught for 6 years.
3. We have a commercial landscape company, Gibson Landscape, and my husband is one heckuva business man. He makes up these spreadsheets and tries to talk to me about them. How cute. Remember that I only go up to 2nd grade in my little brain?
4. Part of the main level of our house flooded back in April and we had to have ALL of our hardwoods replaced. Which lead to new carpet in the basement. Which lead to repainting. Which lead to shiplap. Which lead to a new kitchen island. Which lead to new cabinets. Which lead to new appliances. And also a kitchen sink. We hope to be finished in January-ish.
5. Emily has taught herself to play the piano and the ukulele. Allison is not too far behind. Caroline plays the violin. Josephine plays the Fisher Price xylophone.
6. My brother-in-law, Steve, was like my brother. He came into my life when I was Caroline’s age. He died of ALS on January 1st of this year. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. ALS. What a sucky disease.
7. The only thing I order from Starbucks is a grande white mocha and classic coffee cake.
8. I love Chick-fil-a. I waited tables at a Truett’s Grill back in college (when we were first married). I smelled like chicken every single night, but man that was a fun job.
9. One of my first jobs was during the 1996 Olympics. I worked the gate at the volleyball venue and met Gabrielle Reece. I also saw a man without arms come through driving with his feet. Also, women would pull sweaty money out of their tops and try to hand it to me. I’d point and say, ‘just leave it right there on that ledge, Sweetie’.
10. We thought we were done with 3 kids, but something kept telling me that someone was missing. I’d look in the backseat of the Yukon and just know someone needed to be there. After 3 miscarriages and a failed attempt at IUI, we handed everything over to God and then BOOM…pregnant with Josephine. We named her Josephine because it means ‘God will add one more’.
11. I hate spur of the moment. Tony hates that I hate spur of the moment.
12. Tony played the trumpet in junior high and high school. Now Allison plays the trumpet.
13. I love Dr. Pepper.
14. I’m running out of random things.
15. My first DSLR was a Nikon d40.
16. I should have never cut my hair when I was 8 months pregnant. If you’re pregnant and considering a hair change right now, DO NOT DO IT.
17. I said my kid would never watch Sponge Bob. Currently watching Sponge Bob.
18. I hate to have things scattered around on the kitchen island.
19. I make the bed everyday and I love to vacuum.
20. The best course I took in high school was typing. It’s really coming in handy right now.
