Senior photos have become the norm, but this doesn’t mean you need to schedule a photo session if you don’t want to. Like I tell my own kids, ‘It’s your life! You get to decide where it goes!’ Before you make a final decision though, here are six reasons to take senior photos.

The photoshoot is just for you.

This might be one of the few times (or only time) you will be the sole center of attention during a photo shoot. Throughout your life, other people will generally always be part of your professional photo sessions (wedding, family photos, etc), but your senior session is just for you. It’s also the last formal portrait before your wedding (should you choose to get married, of course). During a senior photo session, you get to show off that letterman jacket, those track medals, or that favorite instrument you play so well.

If you’re planning to have a graduation party, photos of your entire school career make for the perfect decor. The collection won’t be complete without photos from your senior year though. How sweet are those kindergarten grad photos next to those high school graduation photos?! You can also use the images for the celebration invitation. You can also use them in your senior yearbook ad and for sorority or fraternity resumes.

Senior photos make great gifts.

Let’s be honest here, parents really want these photos. Professional senior photos are the ideal gift for your parents and grandparents. They’re already proud and certainly wouldn’t mind being able to show you off in their home. Or on their computer screen saver. Or hey…even that iPhone wallpaper. Can you imagine?! There you are…right there on your mom’s iPhone every single time she picks it up. 😉
